ITB has just completed its first Time To Read Project. The project is a Business in the Community (BITC) initiative which aims to develop a love of reading and encourage children to become independent readers. The programme ran for 24 weeks with volunteer readers, all employees from ITB, who visited Castaheany School every week, for an hour, to read with 10 children from 2nd Class. The programme also involved school staff and parents and included two visits to the Blanchardstown library. |
To mark the success of the project we had a celebration that was attended by the children, some of their parents, school staff and the ITB volunteers. At the event we had a storyteller who read to the children and the children got a chance to talk about their favourite book. |
The ITB volunteers were very generous with their time and were so patient with the children. The volunteers were: Mairead Murphy, Adrienne Harding, Aideen Hodgins, Elaine Keegan, Jessica Clarke, Sandra Firth, Cora Bracken, Joanne Mc Hale, Tom Mulvey & Maria Kenneally. Without the volunteers the project could not have gone ahead! |
