ITB Graduates honoured at 2012 Graduation Ceremony

We were delighted to welcome 653 students back on campus for our Annual Graduation Ceremony on Friday 9th November 2012.
In addition to the graduates, the full house in the multipurpose hall included  staff, families & friends who joined in to celebrate the achievements of our students on such a momentous occasion.
Awards were conferred for various programmes including Computing, Electronic & Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Sustainable  Electrical & Control Technology, Horticulture, Business, International Business & Applied Social Studies in Social Care.

Our 2012 Graduation saw an increase of almost 100 graduates on 2011 with sixteen students receiving their Masters in either Computing, Engineering, Business or Arts.
This year also saw the exciting addition of our first cohort of graduates from Computing in Information Security & Digital Forensics and Social & Community Development, Honours Graduates from Sports Management, Creative Digital Media and Masters Graduates in Business, Arts & Computing.

ITB’s Student of the Year awards rewards students with the best overall academic performance.

 

 

The recipients of the 2012 Student of the Year Awards were :

John Byrne - Higher Certificate in Science in Electrical Technology - Department of Engineering
Brian Duignan - Higher Certificate in Science in Computer Systems - Department of Informatics
Kostyantyn Ogorodnikov - Bachelor of Business in Accounting & Finance - Department of Business
Nicola Gilsenan - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care - Department of Humanities
Nicola was also awarded a special prize by Social Care Ireland (SCI) for academic excellence.
Davis Gaiss - Bachelor of Business in Accounting & Finance was presented with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Award for highest academic achievement in Management Accounting and CPA award for highest academic achievement in financial accounting.

 

 

Firsts at this years’ conferring were 21 graduates from our BSc in Information Security & Digital Forensics, 13 from our BA (Hons) in Creative Digital Media, 7 from our Master of Science in Business Intelligence and Data Mining, 10 from our BA in Social & Community Development, 14 from our BA (Hons) in Sports Management & Coaching, 12 from our Bachelor of Business in Accounting & Finance, 6 from our Masters of Business and 1 from our Masters of Arts by Research.

Dr. Mary Meaney, President , ITB said of the graduation, “I wish to offer my congratulations to all our graduates today. I am particularly proud that such a diverse group of graduates who have studied in a variety of modes, be it full-time, part-time or on-line, have been afforded the opportunity to gain internationally recognised qualifications from ITB. I know that these qualifications will benefit each graduate both personally and professionally and wish them every success in their future careers. While I recognise the immense challenges that face our new graduates I am confident that in their own way they will overcome these challenges and make excellent future leaders.”
