In the 10th anniversary or birthday of ITB, a lot of reminiscing and recounting of the early days of the Institute suggested that ITB staff and students have a story to tell and why not tell it through a recipe book? Food, cooking and sharing a meal are long established ways of celebrating and enjoying each others company, so it was agreed that an invitation should be extended to all to contribute their favourite recipe and to share the meaning or memory inspired by the recipe or dish. A group of staff got together to work on the project on a voluntary basis. It was agreed that any proceeds from the book would go to charity specifically St Francis Hospice and the Laura Lynn Foundation.

The group wanted as much of the content and production of the book to reflect ITB and sought ideas and themes from ITB staff and students. A competition for the book cover design was run in 2009 and Anthony Akinwande, a 1st year digital media student submitted a winning design that was adapted and incorporated into the design of the cover of the Flavour of ITB.

'A Flavour of ITB' was launched in November by Fr Dan Joe O'Mahoney and Jane McKenna and we hope that the cook book will provide many opportunities to share more stories and memories and most importantly raise funds for two very deserving charities.

What our students say...

Monika Karaliunaite

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
