Overview
This course is designed to give students a
strategic overview of the main functional
areas of a modern business environment.
The curriculum offers a variety of
learning that will prepare graduates for
the fluidity and dynamism of the modern
business environment and to develop
their adaptive capabilities.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Ordinary Bachelor Degree (NFQ level 7) with pass grade in a cognate area (or equivalent qualification).
Course Aim
The course was designed to produce
degree graduates with the technical
knowledge and skills appropriate for
business careers in today’s fast changing
environment and to develop the students’
powers of critical analysis and their ability
to tackle business-related problems and
issues in a coherent and logical manner.
Course Schedule
The Bachelor of Business (Honours)
programme is one academic year in
length (September to May). ITB operates
a fully semesterised system with two
semesters of equal length. Students will
study 12 modules in total (6 modules per
semester).
All students will attend 2 nights per
week: Tuesday, Wednesday 6pm – 10pm
and online lectures will be delivered each
Thursday night 6pm – 10pm.
* To facilitate students who are working, TWO subjects per semester will be a blended delivery of these modules with a LIVE online classroom on THURSDAY 6pm – 10pm and face to face lectures throughout the semester.
Students can also access the recordings
of lectures at their own convenience.
Students must have access to a PC and
broadband internet access in order to
engage fully in an online classroom
environment. Computer labs will be
available for student to use during these
times.
Please note: Examinations are held during
the day.
Career Opportunities
Graduates with a Bachelor of Business
(Honours) tend to find employment
across a wide range of sectors such as
financial services, retail, education and
the public service in roles such as trainee
accountant, recruitment consultant, store
manager, funds administrator, sales
managers to name a few.

Course Progression
Students who successfully complete
the Bachelor of Business (Honours)
with a second class honours (GPA 2.5)
are eligible to apply for the Masters in
Business.
Graduates of higher certificate and
ordinary degree programmes can avail of
exemptions from the major accountancy
bodies.
