Entrepreneurship Research

Project Title: Entrepreneurship
Principal Investigator: Cormac McMahon
Contact Details: cormac.mcmahon@itb.ie

Project Description:

ITB is participating in a collaborative initiative, sponsored by the HEA's Strategic Innovation Fund, aimed at embedding entrepreneurship education into non-business disciplines. Accelerating Campus Entrepreneurship (ACE) aims to create entrepreneurial graduates through four strands of work:-

  • development of innovative curriculum and pedagogical tools to expand entrepreneurship's relevance in a non-business context;
  • establishing best practice for cross-campus teaching of entrepreneurship;
  • leveraging campus incubation centres for stronger linkages between academia and the business community;
  • fostering an entrepreneurial culture at all levels within higher education;
ACE has conducted substantial research across the full spectrum of relevant stakeholders in the university and IoT sectors: including students, entrepreneurship educators, heads of schools and departments, incubation-technology transfer managers, incubation start-ups, and presidents.

What our students say...

female

"I was interested in developing research skills too – it’s great to be able to go out on your own with a problem and come back with a solution
I did my primary degree here so I knew the lecturers would be excellent help. Also the subject range interested me greatly, and I wanted to learn new technologies and gain new skills."
