2nd December 2008-Today, saw the launch of the new degree course in Sports Management and Coaching at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB).
The course, which commenced in September 2008, currently has over 60 students enrolled.
The course was jointly launched at ITB by Pat Fenlon, Manager of Bohemians FC and Dessie Farrell, CEO of the Gaelic Players Association.
There was a warm reception for the two Dubliners from the ITB students who thronged the lecture theatre to hear both speak at the launch of the new course.
Pat Fenlon told the students that 'despite all the doom and gloom due to the economic downtown, you all have a massive opportunity to pursue a career combining your main interest, Sport, with Business.' Dessie Farrell echoed these sentiments stressing the importance of education for those involved in Sport. He explained that, 'in sport there is a symbiotic relationship between the participants, coaches and administrators and the Sports Management and Coaching course at ITB incorporate all three facets'.
