Congratulations to Dr. Aiden Carthy - Psychology Lecturer, ITB Humanities Department on his new book " The Emotionally Intelligent College".
This book also includes a chapter by another ITB Humanities Department lecturer, Ailish Jameson. Ailish is currently undertaking a PhD exploring emotional intelligence, education and employment, which is being supervised by Dr Carthy.

About the book :
The primary focus of this book is to help students and educators reach their maximum potential, and, in doing so, help encourage the development of emotionally intelligent colleges.
A wealth of research evidence has shown that helping students to develop their social and emotional competencies can encourage students' personal growth and can also yield benefits including increased student engagement and decreased levels of drop-out. However, much of what has been previously published in this field has focused on younger students, and there has been a lesser focus on third level students and educators. Therefore, there is a notable need for a single volume that synopsises the research that has been conducted pertaining to emotional and social skills development in third level learning environments.

About the Author:
Dr Aiden Carthy has been lecturing and researching in the fields of educational psychology and emotional intelligence for fifteen years. Specifically, he has pursued a research agenda focused on the area of applied education. His primary aim is to help students and educators reach their maximum potential, both personally and academically. Aiden heads the National Research Centre for Psychology, Education and Emotional Intelligence (PEEI) - a research centre that advances theory and practice in the fields of psychology, education and emotional intelligence.
The Emotionally Intelligent College is now available on the Cambridge Scholars Publishing website

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
