Intel Visit ITB Engineering Department

On March 16, 2016, the School of Informatics & Engineering held an information session on Graduate Entry Profile to Intel, covering the formation and desirable attributes for employment position for Level 6 and Level 7 graduates.

This is part of the INTEL-ITB Common Interest group Activities for 2016. The session was targeted at all Year 1 students in the School and was facilitated and moderated by Mr Paul Phelan of the Public Affairs Office Team at Intel Ireland. Paul was accompanied by two Engineers and ITB graduates, Mr Tom Maher and Mr Barry Kearny who are currently working at Intel. Tom is a 2013 BEng (Honours) in Mechatronic Engineering graduate (BN422) and is currently also Part-time Lecturer at ITB, while Barry graduated in 2014 with a BEng in Mechatronic Engineering (BN009).

 

 

The session included: a 10 minute video and slide show on Intel, covering historical hiring profile/type of positions at Intel, compensation and benefits summary, and 3 profile examples of career progression; 30 minute chat session involving Paul, Tom and Barry, outlining their individual career pathways and work experience at Intel, and; 20 minute Q&A session for the student audience. The students participated in a raffle for four GoTab 7" Tablet | GT7X tablet PCs, won by: Engineering's students Radu Costica & Dylan Glynn, and; Informatics students Craig Cormark & Aaron ward.

 

 

Intel donated two perpetual trophies in support of Academic Excellence in the school, namely: Engineering Design Student of the Year Award, and Excellence in Teamwork & Leadership in Engineering Award.
